Asia Cup Spotlight Farhan Joins Babar & Rizwan in Record Books

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has etched his name alongside modern greats Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan after becoming just the fourth Pakistani batter to score 1,500 T20 runs in a single calendar year.

The 28-year-old reached the landmark during Pakistan’s Asia Cup Super Four clash against Sri Lanka, crossing the milestone in his 35th innings of 2025. His achievement places him in elite company—Babar has accomplished the feat three times, Rizwan twice, and Shan Masood once.

Farhan’s tally this year includes runs for Pakistan at the international level as well as consistent performances for Peshawar Region and Islamabad United in domestic and franchise cricket. His aggressive stroke play and consistency at the top of the order have been pivotal in cementing his place in Pakistan’s T20 setup.

The right-hander has also grabbed attention off the field, with his now-viral “firing bullets” celebration after smashing a six against India becoming one of the standout moments of the Asia Cup. Fans hailed it as a sign of his growing confidence on the big stage.

While Babar and Rizwan have long dominated Pakistan’s batting charts in the shortest format, Farhan’s rise adds much-needed depth and competition to the top order. His recent form could play a vital role as Pakistan aims to push for silverware in the Asia Cup and prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Farhan’s entry into the 1,500-run club underlines not just his individual progress but also Pakistan’s growing reliance on multiple top-order performers to challenge the best teams in world cricket.
