In the Ghanche district of Skardu, the Assistant Commissioner administered polio drops to a child’s father after he refused to allow his son to be vaccinated against polio.
According to the District Health Officer, during the ongoing polio campaign, around 38,000 children across the district were given polio drops, with commendable cooperation from local residents.
However, in Skardu’s Ghanche district, a resident refused to have his five-year-old son vaccinated against polio, upon which the Assistant Commissioner administered polio drops to both the child and his father.
According to the district administration, the father was given the drops to assure him that the polio vaccine is completely harmless.
Meanwhile, the child’s father admitted that refusing to give his son the polio drops was a mistake, which he now accepts.
