The Secretary Health has assured the Young Nurses Association Sindh that the shortage of nurses working in government hospitals and their promotion issues will be resolved soon.
Under the leadership of Chairman Ijaz Ali Kalerhi, other office bearers of the Young Nurses Association Sindh presented a memorandum during a meeting with Provincial Secretary Health Tahir Hussain Sanghi.
The Young Nurses Association Sindh submitted a memorandum to the provincial health department regarding pending promotions in the nursing cadre and the shortage of nurses in hospitals. They urged Provincial Secretary Health Tahir Hussain Sanghi to issue promotion orders for nurses from grade 16 to grade 20 under the pending four tier formula in Sindh and to increase the promotion quota for nurses from 25 percent to 50 percent.
Ijaz Ali Kalerhi stated that recruitment rules for nurses should be implemented so that the severe shortage of nurses in hospitals can be addressed.
He said that currently in government hospitals of Sindh, 172 posts of nurses in grade 17 to 18, 19 posts in grade 19, and two posts in nursing grade 20 have been lying vacant for several years.
He also demanded that the pending payments of the nursing evening faculty be released immediately.
Ijaz Kalerhi said that on the pattern of Punjab, the grade 19 post in nursing colleges in Sindh should be upgraded to grade 20.
He also demanded that the post of Chief Nursing Superintendent be upgraded from grade 19 to grade 20 and called for a proper service structure for nurses similar to other provinces.
The Provincial Secretary Health assured that all legitimate demands of the nurses would be resolved. The delegation included Young Nurses Association Hyderabad President Gulnaz, Sindh Vice President Ghulam Qadir Mughairi, Ali Akbar Chachar, and Hira Lal.
