Pakistani actor and model Ayesha Omar has issued a clarification following mounting criticism of her upcoming reality show Lazawaal Ishq, which has been trending on social media since the release of its teaser.
In recent days, online users have called for the show to be banned before its premiere, labeling it a “dating show” and questioning its suitability for local audiences. Addressing the backlash, Omar explained that the program is not designed as a dating format but as a marriage-focused reality series.
“This is not about casual dating,” Omar said. “The show is based on the idea of finding a life partner. Participants are not pre-matched couples — they will get to know each other during the show, with marriage being the ultimate objective.”
She further emphasized that the series should not be compared with Western-style dating programs, adding that the intent is to portray relationships within the cultural context of marriage.
The show is scheduled to stream on YouTube rather than television, but despite this clarification, calls for a ban from sections of the public continue.
