LAHORE : Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed on Thursday confirmed that the devastating floods have impacted more than 4.7 million people in over 4,700 villages (mouzas) across the province.

According to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the government has set up 329 relief camps to accommodate displaced families, along with 425 medical camps to provide emergency healthcare in the flood-hit districts. Additionally, 367 veterinary camps are operational to treat and safeguard livestock.

So far, more than 2.6 million people have been safely evacuated from vulnerable areas, while close to 2.1 million cattle and other livestock have also been shifted to safer locations.

Javed added that with one more casualty reported, the death toll in Punjab has climbed to 119, highlighting the scale of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
