The Punjab government has declared 10 medicines substandard and imposed a ban on their use. The Director General Drug Control Program has issued an alert to field drug inspectors across Punjab. Instructions have also been issued to immediately remove the declared batches from the market.
The anti allergy tablet “Daisy” has been declared substandard. A batch of the medicine “Ascard,” used to reduce the risk of heart attack, has also been declared harmful. The use of allergy treatment medicines “Cepizine” and “Rozen” has been stopped. A batch of “Kenadex Cream” used for the treatment of skin infections has also been declared harmful, while the use of a batch of eye drops “Nifen” has been halted.
Sterile Water for Injection PSOL 2 ml, and injections Metrorize, Metrine, and Setamin have also been declared unfit for use.
