Skywatchers across Pakistan are in for a rare treat tonight as a total lunar eclipse, commonly known as a “Blood Moon,” will light up the night sky. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the celestial spectacle will be visible throughout the country, as well as across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Americas.
The event will unfold in several stages. The moon will begin to lose its brightness at 8:28 pm (PST), marking the start of the penumbral eclipse. The partial phase will begin at 9:27 pm, followed by the total eclipse at 10:31 pm. The eclipse will reach its peak at 11:12 pm, giving the moon its deep reddish hue. The total phase will end at 11:53 pm, while the partial eclipse will linger until 12:57 am, with the entire event wrapping up at 1:55 am on September 8.
Astronomy enthusiasts are encouraged to witness the phenomenon, as total lunar eclipses of this magnitude are relatively rare. Clear skies in most parts of the country will allow a perfect view of the “Blood Moon” spectacle.
