Bollywood actor Bobby Deol has been winning hearts lately with his honest interviews — and his latest revelation might be his most personal yet. In a candid chat with IANS, the actor shared a surprisingly tender detail from his childhood: he used to sleep in his parents’ room until he was 14.

“I was very lucky. I slept with my parents till I was 14 years old,” Bobby said with a nostalgic smile. “My father always used to sleep with the lights on… I don’t like it when it’s dark.”

The actor, known for his roles in Animal and Aashram, recalled that growing up in a close-knit joint family meant there was always someone around — which gave him comfort, but also made it harder to adjust to sleeping alone later.

‘My Father Kept the Lights On’

Bobby shared that his father, the legendary Dharmendra, had a habit of keeping the lights on at night — something that Bobby inherited.

“Even now, I can’t sleep if it’s completely dark,” he admitted. “My wife and I keep a small light on near the floor. It’s just a habit that stayed with me.”

He laughed while recalling how, as a child, his parents would sometimes tell him to sleep downstairs with his siblings. “I would go reluctantly,” he said. “I just felt safer near them.”

A Glimpse Into His Softer Side

This revelation from the often-reserved actor shows a softer, more human side of Bobby Deol that fans rarely get to see. It’s a small story, but one that paints a picture of warmth, family closeness, and the universal desire for comfort and security as a child.

People who grew up in joint families, especially in India, can easily relate — the idea of everyone sleeping nearby, lights left on, late-night conversations, and that sense of being surrounded by love and safety.

Fans React with Affection

After the interview was published by Hindustan Times and Times of India, fans flooded social media with supportive comments. Many called Bobby’s honesty “refreshing” and “heartwarming.”

One user wrote, “There’s something very pure about Bobby Deol. He’s just so real.” Another added, “Not everyone admits things like this. It’s sweet and relatable.”

A Man Comfortable in His Own Skin

Bobby’s confession comes at a time when his career is experiencing a powerful resurgence. After years away from the limelight, he has reinvented himself with bold performances that show range, vulnerability, and intensity.

And maybe that’s the charm of this moment — the actor who once played the rugged romantic hero is now opening up about being scared of the dark. It’s disarmingly human.
