Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have been summoned by a civil court in Pune over allegations of contempt of court in their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3.
According to Indian media reports, the notice was issued following a petition filed by advocate Wajid Rahim Khan. He claimed that the film ridicules India’s judicial system, disrespects court proceedings, and portrays the legal profession in a negative light.
The petitioner specifically objected to certain scenes in the film, including one where judges are allegedly addressed using derogatory slang. “Lawyers and judges must be shown respect. The way they have been depicted is unacceptable,” Khan told ANI.
The court has directed Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and Subhash Kapoor to appear in person on October 28 at 11 a.m.
The controversy erupted shortly after the teaser of Jolly LLB 3 was released. The film, the third installment of the courtroom drama franchise, is scheduled to hit cinemas in September 2025.
