LAHORE: The Punjab government has increased the police uniform budget from Rs680 million to Rs1.36 billion for the current fiscal year, 24NewsHD reported on Friday.
According to police officials, 139,000 uniforms could not be procured last year, whereas around 225,000 uniforms will now be purchased under the revised allocation. The new budget also covers the procurement of T-shirts, jackets, shoes, and other essential equipment.
Officials stated that the pre-qualification process will commence this month on the directives of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP). An advertisement inviting applications for pre-qualification is expected to be issued within the next few days.
Minor amendments have also been introduced in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for procurement this year. Upon completion of the process, each officer and official will be provided with two uniforms along with other necessary gear.
