Cadet College Wana Attack Planned from Afghanistan, Claimed Under Name ‘Jaish al-Hind’: Sources

RAWALPINDI: Security sources have revealed that the recent attack on Cadet College Wana was planned from Afghanistan and executed by Afghan nationals. The responsibility for the assault was claimed under the name “Jaish al-Hind.”

According to the sources, the final order to carry out the attack was reportedly issued by a foreign commander identified as Noor Wali Mehsud, while the attackers followed instructions being relayed to them from across the border during the operation.

Investigators say the planning of the assault was led by another individual known as Zahid. They added that, on the commander’s direction, the responsibility was publicly claimed under the name “Jaish al-Hind.”

Security officials further stated that intercepted audio communications featured the attackers conversing in Urdu while repeatedly referring to “Jaish al-Hind.” They noted that the weapons and equipment used — including some reportedly of Western origin — were supplied from Afghanistan.

Sources believe the motive behind the attack was to create a sense of insecurity in Pakistan. The incident, they added, aligned with external efforts to destabilize the region.

Authorities confirmed that the identities of the slain attackers, all Afghan nationals, have been verified — removing any doubts about their origin.

Earlier, after a tense 14-hour rescue operation, all 627 cadets and teachers at Cadet College Wana were safely evacuated. Two security personnel lost their lives during the operation, while all four attackers were neutralized inside the college premises.
