RAWALPINDI —
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that a comprehensive operation is underway against Indian-backed proxies and terrorist networks in Balochistan. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will deliver a decisive response to any act undermining the country’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
Addressing participants of the 17th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Field Marshal Munir stated that “Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij” were actively spreading anti-state and anti-development propaganda with the intent to destabilize the province.
“All necessary measures are being taken to eliminate these terrorist elements and restore lasting peace in Balochistan,” he asserted.
The army chief emphasized that Balochistan is the pride of Pakistan, home to a resilient and patriotic people who represent the nation’s real strength. He highlighted ongoing federal and provincial initiatives aimed at promoting socio-economic growth through education, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
Acknowledging the role of civil society, Field Marshal Munir said that empowering the youth was vital to counter extremist ideologies and ensure sustainable development across the province.
He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to peace in the region, but any violation of its borders — direct or indirect — would be met with a firm and decisive military response.
The workshop concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session between the participants and the army chief.
According to a recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain the most terrorism-affected provinces, accounting for over 96% of violent incidents in Pakistan this year.
