BHAKKAR — Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, addressing a public gathering in Bhakkar on Sunday, warned the country’s leadership not to even contemplate recognising Israel and called on the Muslim community to unite against sectarian strife.

Speaking to thousands of supporters, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the Muslim ummah faces deliberate attempts to sow discord and that it is the community’s collective duty to eradicate such divisions. He urged work across multiple sectors to strengthen society and protect national interests.

Referring to the situation in Palestine, he accused Israel of perpetrating atrocities against Palestinians and said that calls to formally recognise Israel were unacceptable. He also cited international legal findings against Israeli leaders, saying such developments strengthened his stance.

“Who are we to make a one-sided decision about Palestine?” he asked, and warned that any move by the government to recognise Israel would be met with a strong public response.

The gathering in Bhakkar drew clerics, party activists and local residents. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman urged sustained political and social mobilisation to defend Palestinian rights and to resist policies he described as compromising Pakistan’s principles.
