The principal of Government Graduate College Kharian in Gujrat has been served a show-cause notice after a flag displaying the image of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was hoisted on the college building.
According to official sources, the incident came to light after a video of the flag went viral on social media, prompting immediate action by the Higher Education Department (HED).
In the notice issued by Director of Colleges Shoaib Ashiq Butt, the department stated that the viral footage caused embarrassment to both the department and the administration. The letter also noted that the flag was raised without prior approval from the competent authority, terming it an act of negligence and misconduct.
The principal has been directed to submit a written explanation justifying why disciplinary action should not be taken against them. Following the notice, the controversial flag was swiftly removed from the college premises.
