KARACHI : Residents of Gulistan-e-Johar Block 14 have expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of robbery and street crime, saying that even women and children are no longer safe in the area.
Locals claim that police patrols and security presence are almost non-existent, allowing criminals to operate freely, especially between 3 a.m. and Fajr, when they steal vehicle batteries and other valuables.
Residents further reported that office workers, students, and worshippers have become frequent targets. During the afternoon, school vans are stopped and children robbed, while in the evening and night, motorcycles and cars are snatched at gunpoint.
Armed robbers are said to roam the streets fearlessly, and in some cases, private security guards have been injured by their gunfire.
Citizens complained that their elected representatives remain silent on the worsening law and order situation. They have appealed to the DG Rangers and IG Sindh to take urgent action to protect residents and restore security in the area.
