PESHAWAR: Customs Enforcement Peshawar has foiled several smuggling attempts, confiscating goods valued at more than Rs74.4 million, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported on Monday.
According to the FBR, three trucks were intercepted in Dera Ismail Khan, from which authorities recovered 12,200 kilograms of betel nuts, 4,021 sleeves of foreign cigarettes, and 170 tyres. Additionally, non-duty-paid cosmetics worth Rs2.4 million were seized from passenger vehicles in the same area.
In the Peshawar Division, two non-duty-paid vehicles — a Toyota Vitz and a Toyota Aqua — were taken into custody. Meanwhile, Customs teams in Nowshera intercepted a pickup truck and recovered 2,000 sleeves of smuggled cigarettes.
All confiscated goods and vehicles were seized under the Customs Act, 1969. The FBR reaffirmed its commitment to curbing smuggling nationwide and safeguarding the national economy.
