Khanewal: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly threw acid on his daughter-in-law following a domestic dispute.
According to official reports, on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Hina Parvez Butt took immediate notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the DPO Khanewal. Acting swiftly, police arrested the accused involved in the attack.
Police sources confirmed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
Hina Parvez Butt stated that acid attacks are heinous crimes, punishable with 14 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 500,000 under the Acid Control Bill 2025. She added that such brutal individuals deserve no leniency.
She further assured that the Punjab Women Protection Authority will provide the victim with legal, medical, and psychological support, while police will ensure a transparent investigation and prompt submission of challan. The government, she emphasized, is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against violence toward women.
