KARACHI — The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Composite Circle Gwadar has arrested 14 individuals allegedly attempting to travel illegally to Iran via the sea route.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the detained suspects belong to various districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among them, four are residents of Gujranwala, while two each are from Faisalabad and Hafizabad. Five suspects belong to Lower Dir and the remaining three hail from Swabi, Mardan, and Malakand. All suspects were taken into custody from the Jiwani area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the group intended to use Iran as a transit point for further illegal travel to other countries. FIA officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and an inquiry has been initiated against the suspects.
The spokesperson added that a crackdown against human trafficking networks and those involved in illegal border crossings is underway, and all available resources are being utilized to apprehend individuals facilitating such activities.
