The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has taken strict action over the incident of filming patients inside the operation theatre of Lady Willingdon Hospital.
The PMDC has issued notices to the hospital and the doctors, while the President of PMDC has termed filming patients without permission a serious violation.
PMDC President Rizwan Taj, reacting strongly, raised questions over the viral video on social media and the conduct of the medical staff.
Professor Rizwan Taj stated that unprofessional behavior is unacceptable and strict action will be taken. Details regarding the identification and roles of the doctors involved have also been sought.
Questions have also been raised regarding patient consent prior to video recording, and a report on disciplinary actions has been demanded from the hospital administration.
The PMDC President said that there will be no compromise on patients’ privacy and dignity, adding that there is a zero tolerance policy for violations of ethical principles, and strict disciplinary action will be taken upon completion of the investigation.
