Pakistan has successfully conducted its first liver transplant for a liver affected by colon cancer, marking a significant milestone in the country’s medical history.

‎The groundbreaking surgery took place at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad, where a woman from Karachi underwent a liver transplant after colon cancer had spread to her liver.

‎Doctors diagnosed the woman with cancer in the final part of her large intestine, which later metastasized to her liver. In a first-of-its-kind procedure in Pakistan, her entire cancer-affected liver was removed and replaced with a portion of her husband’s liver.

‎According to medical experts, the woman’s liver was completely damaged due to cancer. In a life-saving act, her husband donated the left lobe of his liver.

‎‎Sources confirm that the patient has now fully recovered from cancer and is living a normal, healthy life.
