BATTAGRAM – In a heartbreaking tragedy, a man in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lost his wife and four young children as flash floods swept through his village in the early hours of Sunday.
The sole survivor recounted the devastating incident, saying the calamity struck around 4:00 AM while the family was asleep. He said he was alerted that floodwaters had entered the village, prompting him to rush to save his family.
Despite desperate efforts to escape, the family was overtaken by the raging flood. The man recalled how his wife and children were torn from his grasp by the powerful current. Managing to swim to safety himself, he said his wife and children — aged 10, 8, 4, and 2 — could not survive.
Authorities said rescue and relief operations are underway in flood-hit areas of Battagram as heavy rains continue to cause destruction across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
