Lahore: Former Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) Sialkot, Iqbal Singhaira, who escaped from police custody earlier this month, has been arrested again.
According to sources, Singhaira is facing trial in a corruption case involving alleged receipt of millions of rupees in bribes from a private housing society.
Police officials said that on November 13, the former ADCR was being transported from Lahore to the Anti-Corruption Court in Rawalpindi when he managed to flee dramatically from the Chakri Motorway Rest Area.
Following his escape, a separate case was registered at Chakri Police Station, in which an ASI and three other Rawalpindi police personnel were nominated for negligence.
Rawalpindi Police later formed a special team to track down the accused. The team successfully arrested Singhaira and transferred him to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
