Sports Desk – August 20, 2025

Heavy monsoon rains lashed Karachi on Tuesday, dumping more than 250 millimeters of rain and leaving large parts of the city submerged. Roads turned into streams, traffic came to a standstill, and residents in several neighborhoods were stranded for hours.

Among those caught in the chaos was former Test cricketer Sikandar Bakht, who found himself stuck in floodwaters in the upscale DHA area. A video circulating on social media shows him standing on a waterlogged street, visibly frustrated with the situation.

In the clip, Sikandar Bakht can be heard saying:

“I’ve called for a boat so I can get home.”

The unusual sight of a national sports figure relying on a boat to navigate Karachi’s streets sparked both concern and humor online, with many residents sharing their own struggles from the record-breaking downpour.
