Former Pakistan Test cricketer Wazir Mohammad passed away at the age of 95 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

He was the elder brother of Pakistan’s cricket legend Hanif Mohammad and a key figure from the country’s golden cricketing era.

Wazir Mohammad played 20 Test matches for Pakistan, amassing 801 runs with his solid batting technique and dependable temperament. He was part of the first generation of Pakistani cricketers who helped establish the national team’s reputation in the international arena during the 1950s and 60s.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep sorrow over his passing, paying tribute to Wazir Mohammad’s lifelong contributions to the sport.

“Wazir Mohammad’s services to cricket will always be remembered,” said Mohsin Naqvi in his condolence message.

The PCB and cricketing fraternity across Pakistan extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, recognizing Wazir’s legacy as part of the historic Mohammad brothers who laid the foundation of Pakistan cricket.
