The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has once again sent a letter to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for the cancellation of permanent practicing licenses of eight doctors.
The letter also refers to a previously sent communication dated May 2, 2025. It has been requested that the permanent practicing licenses of postgraduate doctors be canceled on charges of corruption, violation of discipline, protests, and disruption in the provision of healthcare services in public teaching hospitals.
Those accused of corruption, disciplinary violations, protests, and disruption in healthcare services at public teaching hospitals include Dr Salman Ghafoor, FCPS Nephrology, Nishtar Hospital Multan; Dr Ahmed Yar, FCPS Pediatrics, Children Hospital Lahore; Dr Fakhar Muneer Sial, FCPS Urology, Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
Similarly, Dr Muhammad Arif, FCPS Ophthalmology, Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi; Dr Muhammad Arsalan Raza, FCPS Cardiology, Punjab Institute of Cardiology; Dr Kashif Saeed, FCPS Cardiology, Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore; Dr Hammad Arshad Chattha, MD Cardiology, Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore; and Dr Nadeem Saqib, FCPS Urology, Nishtar Hospital have also been named.
The letter further stated that despite nearly a year passing, no decision has yet been received in the matter. It has been requested that a meeting of the disciplinary committee be convened as soon as possible and disciplinary action be taken against the mentioned doctors.
