Sources have revealed that the Government of Pakistan faces the risk of COVID-19 vaccines worth millions being wasted.

‎According to sources in the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI), the last batch of COVID-19 vaccines in federal stock is at risk of expiring. The FDI has written a letter to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) regarding the matter.

‎Sources stated that the NCOC has been informed about the vaccine situation. The vaccines stored at the Federal Directorate’s warehouse are set to expire next month.

‎According to details, over 5,000 doses of Pfizer-manufactured COVID-19 vaccines are currently stored in the FDI warehouse.

‎The expiring stock of vaccines is valued at more than Rs. 25 million. However, the NCOC has not yet responded to the FDI regarding the matter, and a decision will be made once instructions are received.

‎Meanwhile, sources said that due to declining demand for COVID-19 vaccination, the supply to provinces could not be carried out.
