ISLAMABAD – A new political dispute has surfaced as the government raised objections to the nomination of Mahmood Achakzai for the position of Leader of the Opposition. Officials argue that his name does not meet certain parliamentary considerations, prompting fresh debate within political circles.
In response, PTI has issued a firm and unequivocal statement, maintaining that the party stands by its original decision and considers Achakzai fully suitable for the role. Party spokespersons said the government’s objections hold “no constitutional ground” and appear to be politically motivated.
The situation has added a new layer of tension to an already charged political environment, with both sides preparing for a decisive showdown in the coming days.
