The Ministry of Religious Affairs has outlined a series of major initiatives, placing special focus on Hajj, Quran sanctity, and minority rights. The upcoming Hajj Policy 2026, alongside the Hajj and Umrah (Regulation) Act, 2024, and the Hajj Policy Committee Rules, 2025, will provide a structured framework to improve pilgrim facilitation and ensure transparent operations. The “Route to Makkah” project from Islamabad and Karachi has also been highlighted as a top priority to streamline immigration procedures for Pakistani pilgrims.

In addition, the Ministry confirmed progress on two key Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects: construction of the Kartarpur Bridge and establishment of a recycling plant for shaheed Quran papers. Both initiatives are considered vital for strengthening interfaith harmony and preserving religious sanctity.

The Ministry has also imposed a ban on illegal printing and publication of the Holy Quran, following reports of such violations emerging from Chenab Nagar, Punjab. Authorities say strict monitoring mechanisms will be enforced to prevent further incidents, ensuring respect for the sacred text.

On the minorities’ front, the government has announced the re-composition of the National Commission for Minorities and reaffirmed support for the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC). Officials noted that these steps are aimed at improving representation, safeguarding minority rights, and promoting religious harmony across the country.
