ISLAMABAD: The federal government has declared Saturday, September 6, as a public holiday on the occasion of 12th Rabi ul Awal (Eid Milad un Nabi, PBUH).
A notification issued by the Cabinet Division confirmed the holiday, marking the 1500 Hijri observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth anniversary.
The date was earlier announced by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, who said the Rabi ul Awal moon could not be sighted due to cloudy weather across much of the country.
Muslims worldwide mark the 12th of Rabi ul Awal with processions, gatherings, and events focusing on the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Separately, Karachi Traffic Police announced restrictions on heavy traffic for September 11 and 12 to ensure smooth movement during processions.
