A brand new Harry Potter TV series is officially in the works, bringing fans back to the magical world with a completely fresh cast. The long awaited reboot, produced by HBO, is scheduled to release in 2027.
HBO confirmed that the series will follow J.K. Rowling’s original books, with each season covering one book, making the adaptation more detailed. The studio says the project is planned to run for an entire decade, giving every story enough space to develop.
Warner Bros. Discovery first approved the reboot on April 12, 2023, during a major company press event. The CEO, David Zaslav, also confirmed that all characters including the iconic “Golden Trio” (Harry, Hermione, and Ron) will be played by new actors.
Production officially began on July 14, 2025. The role of Harry Potter will be played by Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin, whose first-look images complete with Harry’s classic uniform and scar have already impressed fans online.
The series promises a faithful, book-accurate retelling that aims to bring back the charm of the original story for both old and new audiences.
