Young Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan has rubbished swirling speculation about a possible switch to England, calling recent rumors “baseless” and reaffirming his commitment to his home country.
The 22-year-old left-hander, currently in the UK for county cricket and commercial commitments, took to social media over the weekend to clarify his stance after a Facebook post claiming he had met with ECB agents began making the rounds online.
“I remain fully committed to representing my country, Pakistan, with utmost dedication and passion,” Haseebullah said in an Instagram story. “Any news about me pursuing a move to England is entirely fabricated.”
The statement came amid growing chatter in cricketing circles about young Pakistani talents seeking opportunities abroad due to limited chances at home. But Haseebullah’s response was firm and direct, aiming to put the matter to rest.
What Sparked the Rumor?
The speculation stemmed from an unverified social media post that suggested the young batter was exploring a possible shift in allegiance to England. The post claimed he had entered talks with ECB representatives, igniting a storm of reactions from fans and analysts alike.
But sources close to the player told A Sports that Haseebullah’s presence in the UK was solely for playing league cricket and fulfilling sponsorship deals — nothing more.
