The National Institute of Health (NIH) has issued an alert warning of mosquito borne diseases spreading in flood affected areas. In an advisory issued by NIH, it was stated that malaria, dengue, leishmaniasis, and chikungunya could spread in the affected regions, with instructions given to hospitals to make special arrangements.

‎The advisory pointed out that mosquito borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, leishmaniasis, and chikungunya could spread in flood-hit areas, which may also lead to an epidemic situation.

‎The advisory further instructed people in the affected areas to take preventive measures against mosquito borne diseases, follow the national guidelines for the treatment of malaria and other illnesses, and ensure coordination with all relevant institutions.

‎It also directed that separate wards should be allocated in hospitals for such patients, with a guarantee of medicine availability and proper monitoring.
