The federal government has approved a Rs. 2 billion bailout package for Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Islamabad, with Rs. 500 million already released as the first installment.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) directed immediate disbursement of the funds and tasked the Education Ministry to reassess QAU’s revenue and expenditure plans. The university has also been instructed to resubmit its sustainability plan to ensure long-term financial stability.

The bailout, originally announced in the federal budget for 2025–26, aims to address QAU’s ongoing financial challenges.
