A local court in Lahore has granted investigators four days of physical remand for the husband and the domestic worker of Hina Javed, who was found dead in her home earlier this week. The decision comes as police work to piece together the events that led to the victim’s suspicious death.

Investigators presented the suspects—the victim’s husband, Javed, and their domestic help—before the judicial magistrate on Thursday. Police argued that custodial interrogation is essential to recover the weapon used in the crime and to map out the exact timeline of the incident. The defense counsel raised objections to the remand, but the court ultimately sided with the prosecution’s request for further questioning.

The case gained public attention after family members of the deceased alleged foul play, pointing toward the husband’s involvement. While the initial police report was filed based on the family’s statement, the investigation is now shifting toward forensic evidence collected from the crime scene.

“We are looking at all angles, including the possibility of a staged scene,” a senior police official familiar with the investigation said on condition of anonymity. He added that the forensic report on the victim’s phone and the household’s digital footprint would be critical in building a case that holds up in court.

The domestic worker’s role remains a point of intense scrutiny. Police suspect the worker may have witnessed the incident or played a direct part in the crime, though the suspects have maintained their innocence during preliminary questioning.

For now, the suspects remain in police custody. With the four-day window closing, investigators are under pressure to move from suspicion to evidence, as this case continues to highlight the growing alarm over domestic violence incidents in the city.
