Following the surge in dengue cases, private laboratories have been ordered to reduce the prices of dengue and malaria tests.
In Sindh, dengue cases have significantly increased, with a shocking rise in the number of patients across various cities. So far, 26 people have lost their lives in the province, with Hyderabad being the most affected city.
With the rise in dengue cases, the high cost of dengue and malaria tests has become a major issue for the public already struggling with inflation.
In view of this alarming situation, the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has issued directives to all private diagnostic laboratories in the province to make dengue and malaria tests affordable and accessible to the public.
A notification has also been issued by the SHCC, instructing all private diagnostic laboratories in Sindh to reduce the fees for dengue and malaria tests by December 31, 2025.
The notification specifies the revised discounted fees for dengue and malaria diagnostic tests, which private laboratories are required to implement.
According to the notification, the malaria ICT test fee has been reduced from Rs. 3050 to Rs. 600, the dengue NS1 test fee from Rs. 4550 to Rs. 1100, the dengue IgM/Combo test fee from Rs. 4150 to Rs. 1500, and the CBC test fee from Rs. 1250 to Rs. 500.
