The Government of Hungary has officially opened applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2026/2027, inviting international students — including those from Pakistan — to apply for fully funded Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, PhD, and Non-Degree programs at top Hungarian universities.
Established in 2013 and administered by the Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the program aims to promote Hungary’s higher education globally and strengthen international academic cooperation. More than 30 Hungarian universities are part of the initiative, offering over 800 English-taught programs in diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, business, law, IT, and arts.
Applicants may apply for up to two study programs through Hungary’s Study Finder tool. Available study modes include Bachelor’s (2–4 years), Master’s (1.5–2 years), One-Tier Master’s (5–6 years), Doctoral (2+2 years), and non-degree programs like language preparation and short exchange studies.
To be eligible, candidates must be citizens of partner countries, at least 18 years old by 31 August 2026, and meet academic and English language proficiency requirements through recognized tests such as IELTS or TOEFL. Applications must be made via the Sending Partner institution in the applicant’s home country — direct submissions to universities will not be accepted.
The fully funded scholarship covers tuition fees, provides a monthly stipend (HUF 43,700 for Bachelor’s/Master’s and up to HUF 180,000 for PhD students), free dormitory accommodation or housing allowance, health insurance, and travel reimbursement between the home country and Hungary.
Applicants must submit an online form, educational certificates, transcripts, motivation letter, English proficiency proof, and a passport or national ID. PhD applicants must also provide recommendation letters and a research proposal, while art students must include a portfolio. Missing documents may be added later by 1 August 2026.
The application process is online and free of charge. Candidates must verify eligibility on the Partners Page, select preferred programs, register on the official portal, and submit applications to both the online platform and their Sending Partner before the deadline. Nominations and final selections will be handled by TPF and participating universities.
Key dates: Applications open November 2025, close 15 January 2026, nominations announced March 2026, medical certificate due 15 April 2026, and final document submission 1 August 2026. Successful students will start their studies in September 2026.
