Hyderabad Reach PSL Final After Beating Islamabad United

Hyderabad Kingsmen stormed into the HBL PSL 11 final on Friday after defeating Islamabad United in Eliminator 2, completing a remarkable late-season surge that has turned them into one of the tournament’s biggest stories. Hyderabad, who had scraped into the playoffs after finishing fourth in the league stage, will now face Peshawar Zalmi in the final on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

It’s a huge moment for Hyderabad. Not long ago, they looked like a side running out of road. They ended the league phase with five wins in 10 matches and a negative net run rate, hardly the profile of an obvious finalist. But once the knockouts began, they found another gear. Hyderabad had already crushed Multan Sultans by eight wickets in Eliminator 1 on April 29, and their win over Islamabad has now pushed them all the way into the title decider.

That makes this run even more striking. Hyderabad’s campaign had been shaky for weeks, yet they kept recovering at the right time. Their rise from fourth place into the final underlines just how quickly momentum can flip in T20 cricket. What looked like a barely-alive season has suddenly become a genuine championship charge.

The final won’t be easy. Peshawar Zalmi had already booked their place after beating Islamabad United in the Qualifier, with Babar Azam’s century setting up a 70-run win. So Hyderabad now head into the last match of the season against the table-toppers, a side that has looked strong and settled through most of the tournament.

Still, Hyderabad have earned the right to believe. Their playoff run has been built on timing, nerve and the ability to peak when the pressure is highest. And honestly, that’s what makes them dangerous now. They’re no longer just the surprise package. They’re one win away from the trophy.
