ICC Sanctions Sidra Amin Over On-Field Conduct in Women’s World Cup Clash

Pakistan women’s batter Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s Women’s World Cup match against India in Colombo.

According to the ICC statement, Sidra was found guilty of violating Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match.

The incident occurred during the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Sidra, visibly frustrated after her dismissal, struck her bat forcefully on the pitch. The act was deemed a minor breach of conduct, resulting in an official reprimand and the addition of one demerit point to her disciplinary record.

The ICC confirmed that Sidra Amin admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Shandré Fritz, which meant there was no need for a formal hearing.

This is Sidra’s first offence within a 24-month period, and according to ICC rules, a total of four or more demerit points within that period can lead to suspension points and a potential ban.

Pakistan went on to lose the match by 88 runs after being bowled out for 159 while chasing India’s 247-run total.

The reprimand serves as a reminder for players to maintain discipline and composure on the field, even in moments of disappointment or frustration.
