At least 15 people were killed when a passenger bus was struck by a landslide in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The incident occurred early in the morning near the mountainous region of Kullu, where heavy monsoon rains triggered multiple landslides.
Rescue teams and local police rushed to the site, pulling bodies and injured passengers from the debris. Several travelers were trapped for hours before emergency services managed to clear the road and begin recovery operations.
Officials said the bus was en route from Kullu to Shimla when a sudden landslide buried part of the vehicle under mud and rocks. Search efforts are ongoing, with fears that more passengers could still be trapped beneath the rubble.
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced compensation for the victims’ families, while authorities have advised residents and travelers to avoid hilly routes amid continuous rainfall and heightened risk of further land slides
