Islamabad Police foiled an attempted robbery after armed suspects opened fire on a patrol team in the Khanna area, officials said.
According to the Islamabad Police spokesperson, six armed robbers riding two Honda 125 motorcycles were heading to commit a crime when they encountered a police team conducting routine checking. The suspects immediately opened indiscriminate fire on the officers.
Two policemen were hit by bullets but escaped serious injuries due to their protective gear, including bulletproof jackets and helmets.
Police officials said three of the suspects sustained injuries from their own accomplices’ gunfire and were arrested on the spot. Weapons were recovered from the detained suspects.
