Janhvi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor Likely to Share Screen for First Time

Mumbai — Janhvi Kapoor may be headed for her first on-screen pairing with Shahid Kapoor, with multiple entertainment reports linking her to the developing sequel Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2. So far, though, this still sits in the “likely” column rather than the confirmed one: trade and entertainment outlets say the project is in the works and that Janhvi is expected to join Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, but an official announcement from the makers has not yet been widely cited.

The chatter has picked up because the sequel idea doesn’t seem to have come out of nowhere. The first Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, released in 2024, was built around Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s unusual sci-fi romance, and several reports have noted that Janhvi Kapoor’s appearance at the tail end of the original film left the door open for a follow-up. That detail is one reason the current speculation has landed with a bit more weight than the average casting rumor.

What’s interesting here is the way the story is being framed in industry coverage. Rather than pitching Janhvi as part of a completely separate film with Shahid, the reports suggest she could enter an already established franchise world, which gives the pairing a built-in hook. Pinkvilla reported that Maddock Films is developing the sequel and that Shahid, Kriti and Janhvi are all being lined up for the next chapter. NewsBytes and The Hollywood Reporter India echoed that broad reporting line, while also pointing out that the film would continue from where the original story left off.

That said, the usual Bollywood caveat applies. Casting stories often move faster than contracts do, and until the studio or cast publicly confirms the lineup, it remains safer to describe the collaboration as probable rather than settled. Right now, the strongest public picture is this: a sequel is reportedly in development, Shahid Kapoor is expected to return, Kriti Sanon is also said to be part of it, and Janhvi Kapoor is the name most consistently attached as the new addition.

The timing also matters. Shahid has recently been linked with multiple projects, with reports around Farzi 2 and other films already placing him in a packed schedule. That makes the sequel part of a larger run of commercially visible work for the actor. Janhvi, meanwhile, continues to stay in the conversation through a busy slate of her own, which only adds to the curiosity around whether this rumored pairing can actually be locked in.

For fans, the appeal is obvious. Shahid Kapoor brings a polished rom-com rhythm that still clicks when the material allows him room to play, while Janhvi Kapoor carries enough star value and curiosity factor to make a first-time pairing marketable on its own. Add the existing Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya universe to that, and you get a project that feels easy to sell even before a formal announcement drops. That part is inference, not confirmation, but it helps explain why the rumor has spread so quickly across entertainment desks.

For now, the key point is simple: Janhvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor are being strongly linked to a potential first collaboration, most likely through Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2. But until the producers or actors say it outright, this remains one of Bollywood’s more plausible casting stories, not a finalized fact.
