The number of dengue cases in Karachi continues to rise, while a significant discrepancy has emerged between the data released by the Sindh Health Department and Indus Hospital.

‎The Sindh Health Department has issued a fresh report on confirmed dengue cases across the province. According to the report, 276 confirmed dengue cases have been reported so far this month, bringing the total number of dengue cases in 2025 to 920 across Sindh.

‎The report states that the Karachi Division is the most affected, with 124 cases reported so far, followed by Hyderabad Division with 82, Mirpurkhas Division with 58, Sukkur Division with 9, Shaheed Benazirabad Division with 2, and Larkana Division with 1 case.

‎Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho said that the provincial government has further accelerated the anti dengue campaign across Sindh. Orders have been issued to improve spraying, fogging, and drainage systems in all districts.

‎She directed all Deputy Commissioners and District Health Officers to ensure that no stagnant water remains in any area, as it serves as the primary breeding ground for mosquitoes.

‎Dr. Azra Pechuho added that the government’s priority is to give equal attention to both urban and rural areas. Dedicated dengue units have been established in all government hospitals, where free treatment and testing facilities are available for patients.

‎She appealed to the public to avoid water accumulation in courtyards, rooftops, and flower pots, to use mosquito repellents, and to immediately visit the nearest hospital in case of fever. She emphasized that dengue is a preventable disease, and if everyone acts responsibly, it can be controlled soon.

‎The Sindh Health Minister assured that Sindh government’s dengue monitoring teams are actively working on a daily basis in affected districts and are continuously monitoring the situation.

‎On the other hand, Indus Hospital Karachi alone has reported 2,007 dengue patients between October 1 and October 16.

‎According to the Indus Hospital administration, the number of dengue and malaria patients is increasing in Karachi. The hospital is now filled with patients suffering from dengue, seasonal fever, and various infections.
