KARACHI – A police constable was martyred in a firing incident on Karim Shah Road in Gulshan-e-Maimar on Friday.
According to the spokesperson for SSP West, Constable Saddam Hussain, deployed at Gulshan-e-Maimar Police Station, was getting his motorcycle puncture repaired when four unidentified gunmen in a white Alto car opened fire. He sustained fatal injuries and embraced martyrdom, while the assailants fled the scene.
Police confirmed that the slain constable was serving as the security guard of MNA Shahida Rehmani and was returning home after duty. Investigators recovered five 9mm shells and one 30-bore shell from the crime scene.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar took notice of the incident and directed SSP West to provide a detailed report on immediate police measures. He instructed that the case be pursued effectively based on witness statements and evidence, ensuring the arrest of the culprits. The minister also directed senior officers to visit the martyr’s family and extend support.
