KARACHI, September 2, 2025 — The Specialised Investigation Unit (SIU) has arrested two suspected members of a gang accused of robbing citizens after they withdrew cash from banks, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to police, the arrests were made during a targeted raid by the CIA police in the Jamshed Quarters area. The suspects, identified as Shehzad and Hidayatullah, were found in possession of three pistols, seven mobile phones, and a motorcycle. Raids are ongoing to apprehend their remaining accomplices.
Investigators revealed that the gang was also involved in multiple shop robberies, including a recent bakery heist in Shah Latif Town, footage of which has surfaced on CCTV.
Police further disclosed that the gang’s alleged ringleader, Shehbaz, has confessed to dozens of robberies. These include a holdup at Gol Building in Nazimabad earlier this year, the theft of Rs 1.2 million from a bank customer on Tariq Road, and a similar incident at NIPA Bridge in 2024.
Shehbaz is also accused of stealing Rs 1.4 million from a bakery in Sohrab Goth in 2024, as well as Rs 1.2 million from another bakery at Disco Mor in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, before fleeing the scene.
