Karachi:
The monsoon weather system that has been drenching Sindh has slightly weakened, shifting from a deep depression to a depression. Yet, despite the downgrade, meteorologists warn it remains a strong system, with Karachi likely to face heavy downpours starting this afternoon.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) spokesperson, Anjum Nazir Zigham, the system is currently located about 50 kilometers from Hyderabad, where 85 millimeters of rainfall has already been recorded since yesterday. Meanwhile, Diplo has received 108 millimeters. The system is expected to move towards the coastal belt of Balochistan and dissipate by September 11.
The Met Office has predicted 4 to 6 intense spells of rain in Karachi today, with some areas possibly exceeding 100 millimeters. Experts describe this as an unusual weather pattern that entered Sindh from India, noting its complex path could lead to varying rainfall intensities across different regions
