Khamenei: Dispute with U.S. Cannot Be Resolved

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the dispute with the United States is “insolvable,” stressing that Tehran will not bow to pressure from Washington.

In a statement on Monday, Khamenei warned that those advocating for direct talks with the U.S. are only seeing the surface of the issue. “The fundamental problems will never be resolved,” he said, ruling out the possibility of negotiations under pressure.

Tensions between Tehran and Washington have escalated since Iran suspended nuclear negotiations in June following a 12-day conflict with Israel, during which U.S. and Israeli forces carried out airstrikes.

Meanwhile, European powers — France, the United Kingdom, and Germany — have urged Iran to return to the negotiating table. They warned that failure to do so could lead to the reinstatement of United Nations sanctions.

Western nations accuse Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, while Tehran insists that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful energy purposes.
