Karachi: Police in the Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan area carried out a successful operation and arrested a gang involved in short-term kidnappings for ransom. According to officials, the action took place during a police encounter yesterday.
SSP Central stated that the arrested suspects used to impersonate law enforcement personnel to abduct citizens, specifically targeting individuals from the middle class. In one incident, they even robbed a person who came to deliver the ransom.
The gang used a rented vehicle for their operations, abducting people, moving them around densely populated areas, and demanding immediate ransom from their families.
During the operation, four suspects were arrested, including a former member of the Pakistan Qaumi Razakar (PQR). The arrested individuals include a barber, a welder, a carpenter, and a marble polisher.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
