Following devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Ministry of Health has dispatched the first consignment of medicines and vaccines, with a special focus on protecting children from preventable diseases.
According to Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, the consignment includes 250,000 doses of pentavalent vaccine, 150,000 doses of measles and rubella vaccine, 291,500 syringes, and 3,000 safety boxes. The health ministry has also sent 30,000 malaria rapid diagnostic test kits, 60,000 primaquine tablets, and 10,000 mosquito nets to reduce the risk of vector-borne diseases.
“The threat of measles, malaria and other epidemics is high in flood-hit areas, particularly among children. That’s why the first priority was to send vaccines and protective medicines,” Kamal said in a statement.
He added that all institutions under the health ministry are on high alert and working closely with the KP government to provide timely medical support. “We will not leave the affected families alone in this hour of difficulty,” he assured.
