The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have reportedly sought an additional Rs25 billion for the financial year 2026-27 to strengthen security arrangements and improve the force’s operational capabilities. According to reports, a draft proposal has been forwarded to the Prime Minister for consideration, highlighting the need for additional financial resources amid ongoing security challenges in the province.
The proposed funding is aimed at addressing shortages of modern weapons, ammunition, bulletproof equipment, surveillance systems and police vehicles. The police have also emphasised the need to improve operational facilities and provide better resources to personnel serving in sensitive and terrorism-affected areas. The force has been facing increasing security demands, particularly in southern districts and merged tribal areas.
The additional funding request comes as KP Police continue efforts to modernise their equipment and strengthen their ability to respond to security threats. The proposal, however, does not mean that the requested amount has been approved. The final decision will depend on the relevant authorities and the government’s financial approval process.
