The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rolled out a welfare-driven budget for 2025–26, boosting health spending by 19% and education funding by 11% — the largest increases in recent years.

Health allocations rose from Rs 232 billion to Rs 276 billion, while education funds jumped from Rs 327 billion to Rs 363 billion. The Sehat Card Plus program now includes advanced procedures like kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplants, extending benefits to over 4.4 million citizens.

In education, the province recruited 16,000 new teachers and set aside Rs 5 billion to bring out-of-school children back to classrooms. The elementary and secondary education budget includes infrastructure upgrades for over 32,000 schools, along with free textbooks and Rs 1.6 billion for female staff support.

Higher education also received a major lift, with public university grants tripling from Rs 3 billion to Rs 10 billion. The development budget has grown by 62%, with Rs 195 billion earmarked for long-term welfare and infrastructure projects.

The KP government says the budget reflects its commitment to inclusive growth and essential public services.
